The Real Cost of Cheap Custom T-Shirts
June 18, 2026 — by Tee Print USA Team
We lose a few quotes every month to shops charging a dollar less per shirt. Sometimes those customers come back a month later with cracked prints and a fresh appreciation for the difference. Here's what actually separates cheap from good value.
Where cheap shops cut corners
Blanks: open-end cotton tees feel rough and box-shaped next to ringspun. Curing: under-cured plastisol looks fine on delivery day and cracks by wash five. Artwork prep: auto-traced logos with jagged edges printed without a human ever looking at them.
Five questions to ask any printer
- What brand and weight of blank is quoted?
- Is there a wash guarantee, and what does it cover?
- Will I see a mockup before production?
- What happens if the order arrives late?
- Are setup fees and shipping in the quoted price?
Any shop worth your money answers all five without flinching. (Ours: listed on every quote; 50 washes; always; we make it right; yes.)
